11. Why is it a problem to claim apostleship today in the same sense as the 12 apostles of Christ?
2.5 Let’s personalize this Lesson…
The last words of Jesus before He left were imperatival in nature (Acts 1:8), that we are to
be His witness to the end of the earth. He empowers us with the presence and
manifestation of the Holy Spirit. He provides us with time and different circumstantial
opportunities to witness for Him each day. He surely counts on us to further His kingdom
in His physical absence. He will surely hold us accountable on how we use His time each
day. I challenge us to consider His last words if we are to be in line with His will.
Often times when we are faced with challenges, we quickly try to solve them by means of our
wisdom and perceived appropriateness. But Peter sets pace for our belief and practice by using the
authority of Scriptures When faced with the challenge of replacing Judas Iscariot in the ministry of
apostleship (Acts 1:16-20). The world will push us to make quick decisions on critical issues, but I
challenge us to always slow down and consider the authority of the Scriptures to find wisdom for
belief and practice in every circumstance.
