5. Matthew 24:1-2 Prophecy written: During the first century Prophecy fulfilled: 70 AD. Jesus
predicted that the temple would be totally destroyed. This was to happen as a consequence for
                       rejecting the Messiah.
                   6. Luke 21:24 Prophecy written: During the first century Prophecy fulfilled: 70 AD. Jesus predicted
that the Jews would be exiled.
                   7. Micah 3:11-12 Prophecy written: Sometime between 750-686 BC. Prophecy fulfilled: 135 AD.
Zion would be “plowed like a field.” According to a text in the Gemara - a collection of ancient
Jewish writings - the Romans ran a plow over Zion on the 9th day of the Jewish month of Ab.
The Gemara said that Turnus Rufus, a Roman officer, plowed the area of the Temple. This
prophecy was fulfilled in literal detail.
                   8. Deuteronomy 28:49-52 Prophecy written: As early as 1400 BC. Prophecy fulfilled: 70 AD. The
Bible foreshadowed Rome’s destruction of Israel. An ancient historian named Cassius Dio
claimed that the Roman army had razed to the ground 985 villages throughout Israel. If the
figure is to be believed, then it might be including settlements, along with cities and towns,
throughout the land. The writings of Cassius Dio, along with those from Josephus, another first-
century historian, indicate that the Roman army's destruction of Israel was very complete.
                   9. There are literally hundreds of more prophecies that were made, some fulfilled and some yet to
be fulfilled about Israel. It is clear, however, that focusing on Israel is the central key to
understanding unfulfilled prophecy. For the balance of this course, we will explore these
prophecies and see how current events lead us to believe that their fulfillment is imminent.

Prophecies in our Future that have not been fulfilled.
There are some major prophecies in God’s Word that have not come to pass. They are yet to be
fulfilled. And just as such as all the prophecies concerning the coming of Messiah were fulfilled in the
literal person of Christ, so shall these prophecies come to pass in a literal manner. Here is a list of some
               of them:

                   1. Matthew 24:29-31 Prophecy written: During the first century. Jesus Christ will return as
Messiah over Israel to rule and reign in a Kingdom on earth, ruling from the capitol city of
                       Jerusalem.
                   2. 2 Peter 3:1-18 Prophecy written: During the first century. Jesus Christ will return unexpectantly.
                   3. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-9 Prophecy written: About 50 AD. The “day of the Lord” will take people by
surprise. Isaiah 13:6-11 describe this day as a day when judgment and woes will be poured out
on the earth in preparation for the coming of Messiah’s kingdom.
                   4. Matthew 24:14 Prophecy written: During the first century. Before the Lord comes to rule and
reign, the Gospel will be preached to the entire world.
                   5. Matthew 24:32-35 Prophecy written: During the first century. The generation that sees the
budding of the “fig tree” is the generation that will observe the commencement of the end time
                       signs.
                   6. Matthew 24: 8 The Jewish Nation will experience a time called, “The time of Jacob’s Trouble”
(Jer. 30:7). This time would last 7 years.
                   7. Matthew 24:12, cf. 2 Tim 3: 1-5 The condition of the heart of mankind at the end of times is
                       described in detail.
                   8. Matthew 24:15 describes the “abomination of desolation” as described by Daniel the prophet
will take place in the temple building in Jerusalem.
                   9. Matthew 24:21 Describes a great tribulation period of 7 years and links this to the “Time of
                       Jacob’s Trouble.”
