They are:
"lovers of their own selves"
We now teach our children in school that it is very important to have a positive self-image. We are not
to do anything to a student which might curb his “self-expression.” We are raising a generation of kids
that are totally into themselves.
We have stooped to a drastic level of selfishness and egocentrism. The world has become centered on
the pleasures and satisfaction of the individual. Our society deems behaviors of excessive indulgence,
laziness and irresponsibility as perfectly normal and acceptable.
Abortion is a stellar example of this. Too lazy and too inconvenient to face the consequences of your
actions? No problem - we can just kill your child and be done with it. Alex Pettit - UNM student

"covetous" -- get what one wants
Stealing in High Schools Big Problem NEW YORK - In the past year, 30 percent of U.S. high school
students have stolen from a store and 64 percent have cheated on a test, according to a new, large-scale
survey suggesting that Americans are too apathetic about ethical standards.
Cheating in school is rampant and getting worse. Sixty-four percent of students cheated on a test in the
past year and 38 percent did so two or more times, up from 60 percent and 35 percent in a 2006 survey.
- Thirty-six percent said they used the Internet to plagiarize an assignment, up from 33 percent in 2004.
- Forty-two percent said they sometimes lie to save money - 49 percent of the boys and 36 percent of
the girls.
Despite such responses, 93 percent of the students said they were satisfied with their personal ethics
and character, and 77 percent affirmed that "when it comes to doing what is right, I am better than
most people I know."
Having it Now and Paying for it Later! America and many nations of the world have become more a
debt 'junkie' - - than ever before with total debt of $23.3 Trillion - - and the highest debt ratio in history.
That's $186,717 per man, woman and child - - or $746,868 per family of 4, $32,104 more debt per family
than last year.
"boasters" -- braggart
