Advantages
(1) It exposes the Word as God presents it, not as man picks and chooses.

(2) It lessens the danger of preaching passages of Scripture out of context.
(3) It forces the preacher to preach the whole counsel of God.
(4) It teaches people in the pew how to read their Bible.
(5) It brings God’s Word to life.
(6) It keeps the preacher from targeting certain individuals in the pew.
Disadvantages – Few, if any!
As you can see, there’s more to preaching that just standing up in front of people with a Bible and
talking about its truth. One must know where he’s going. He must know how he’s going to get there. He
must determine what approach he will take. Therefore, he must have a full understanding of both the
parts and types of sermons.
