"Darwinism is a trivial idea that has been elevated to the status of the scientific theory that governs
               modern biology,"

The Discovery Institute's Center for Science and Culture announced that almost 1000 scientists from
around the world have now signed a statement expressing their skepticism about the contemporary
theory of Darwinian evolution. The statement, located online at www.dissentfromdarwin.org, reads:
"We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the
complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged."

Signers of the statement questioning Darwinism came from throughout the US and from several other
countries, representing biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, geology, anthropology and other
scientific fields. Professors and researchers at such universities as Princeton, MIT, U Penn, and Yale, as
well as smaller colleges and the National Laboratories at Livermore, CA and Los Alamos, N.M., are
included. A number of the signers have authored or contributed to books on issues related to evolution,
               or have books underway.

               Back to Genesis

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And God said, "Let there be light," and there
was light. … And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground
appear." … Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation…” And God said, "Let there be lights in the
expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night.” … And God said, "Let the water teem with living
creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." And God said, "Let the land
produce living creatures according to their kinds…” Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in
our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all
the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." So God created man in his own
image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

               18.4 Let’s Practice…

                        1. List some of the complexities of the brain:

                        2. Do you agree with this statement? It would be foolish to suggest that time and chance
could make a computer or a microwave oven, or that the individual parts could form
themselves into these complex mechanisms due to the physical properties of matter. Yet, life
is far, far more complex than any man-made machine.

               3. What is the name of the organization set up to allow various scientists around the world to, as one
voice, claim they deny that evolution is the source of the complexity of life as we know it?
