The End of the Antichrist

Rev. 19, 19-21 tells us what the conclusion of the Antichrist’s reign on earth:
19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war
                                                                    20
against him that sat upon the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the
false prophet that wrought the signs in his sight, wherewith he deceived them that had received the
                                             [l]
mark of the beast and them that worshipped his image: they two were cast alive into the lake of fire
                                          21
that burneth with brimstone: and the rest were killed with the sword of him that sat upon the
horse, even the sword which came forth out of his mouth: and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

Jesus Christ will come to earth as the nations seek to destroy Israel. He will return as He left, landing on
the Mount of Olives, which will split in response to His awesome power. He will destroy the armies
gathered to destroy Israel with His word. His coming actually is a rescue mission to save Israel and fulfill
His promise to rule the earth from the throne of David. At Armageddon “the cup filled with the wine of
the fury of [God’s] wrath” (Revelation 16:19) will be delivered, and the Antichrist and his followers will
be overthrown and defeated. He will be the first one to be cast into the Lake of Fire, reserved for those
               who rebel against God.

The battle will be massive, covering most all of Israel. Revelation 14:20 says the blood in the valley will
reach a depth of four feet (the height of a horse’s bridle). “All the birds” will be “filled” with the flesh of
the battlefield (Revelation 19:21) and it will take seven months to bury the dead and seven years to rid
the earth of all the weapons which gathered by the nations (Ezekiel 39:8-16).

“Armageddon” has become a general term that refers to the end of the world, not exclusively to the
battle that takes place in the plain of Megiddo.

               The Millennium

Revelation 20:1-6 tells us that the Millennium is a literal 1,000 year period of time in which Satan is
bound (20:2,3) and Christ rules (20:4). This is a literal kingdom with Christ sitting on the thrown in the
temple in Jerusalem. It is the fulfillment of the Davidic Covenant which promised such a king and
kingdom (2 Samuel 7:16). It will also fulfill the spiritual promises of the New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-
               33) and the physical promises of the Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 12:1-3; 15:18).

What is the purpose of the Millennium?
During the Millennium, Christ will reign over the kingdoms of the entire earth. There will be total peace
and righteousness. The animals will even be at peace with one another. The lion will
lay down with the lamb (Isaiah 11:6). There will be ideal circumstances. Christ will be
visibly present and Satan will be bound (Revelation 20:1-6). Yet when Satan is released
at the end of the 1,000 years, he will be able to quickly gather masses of people from
all nations to fight Christ (Revelation 20:7-10). The major purpose of the Millennium is
to fulfill His promises to Israel. They will be God’s privileged people in ideal
circumstances with Christ Jesus recognized as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Christ the Lord will be the king (Zechariah 14:9; Revelation 20:4). He will bring immediate justice (Isaiah
11:3-5). Jerusalem will be the capital (Isaiah 2:3). It will be a safe city (Zechariah 14:11).
