Study Section 10: The Book of Micah
10.1 Connect
Micah is best known for predicting the birthplace of the Messiah. When the Eastern Kings
came to worship the Christ Child, they asked the place of his birth. Researching the book of
Micah, the priests in Jerusalem told them that He was to be born in Bethlehem in Judea.
They fully understood that Micah predicted that location over 700 years before His birth.
And sure enough, they found Micah’s prophesy came true, as they bowed down to worship
the Messiah. Micah even told us that the baby Jesus was God becoming flesh. He

Author: The author of the Book of Micah was the
Prophet Micah (Micah 1:1).
Date of Writing: The Book of Micah was likely written

judgment was expected to culminate in the destruction of Samaria and Jerusalem. On the other hand,
the book proclaims not merely the restoration of the nation, but the transformation and exaltation of
Israel and Jerusalem. The messages of hope and doom are not necessarily contradictory, however,
since restoration and transformation take place only after judgment.
