General Epistles—James through Jude
Note from the Author:
This course was developed to expose to readers the Bible as a story and as unfolding revelation while
taking note of the content and context (historical, political, social, religious) of each general epistle,
purposes and the most important theological passages/issues and the application of these texts to the
modern contexts in order to receive Jesus Christ and grow into Christ-likeness. Notice that these epistles
are “known as the Catholic (i.e., ‘universal’) Epistles” because they were addressed to the church in
general rather than to a specific or single congregation.
At the end of your study of this course, we are confident in the goodness of our God that you will be
able to envisage the spiritual benefits enshrined in learning those themes and concepts introduced by
General Epistles (James through Jude). Thereafter, you should be able to begin actualizing those spiritual
benefits for two purposes: 1) proclamation of the story found in General Epistles in order to win souls
for Christ (Evangelistic), and 2) grow into Christ-likeness (Edification).
