Study Section 13: Incarnate Word of Life and Fellowship with God the
Father and God the Son.
13.1 Connect.
In the year 2020, I was attending the burial of my niece in Lusaka. The burial took a long time,
so I decided to spend a night at my brother’s house. On that same day, after the burial, I visited
one of my sisters in response to her request. While there, my nephew reported to his mom
how he got spanked by his father for disobedience. He was sent to buy a bag of charcoal from
the market and used the change to buy candies without permission. In his report, he seemed to
be questioning his father’s decision to have spanked him. His mother’s response was, “Your father’s
decision to spank you was the right call because I would also do the same. Your father and I follow
similar guidelines when it comes to disciplining you.”
Even though it is not on disciplinary subject, apostle John touches on the similar subject in this section as
he discusses on the fellowship with God the Father and God the Son. Just like my nephew who was told
by his mother that she was on the same page with her husband concerning my nephew’s spanking, so is
God the Father and God the Son who are one.

13.3 The Incarnate Word of Life, Fellowship with God the Father and God the Son (1 John
1:1—2:28).
The Pre-incarnate and Incarnate Word of Life (the Deity of Jesus Christ [1 John 1:1-
4]).
Concerning that which was from the beginning, apostle John describes it as 1) That which was
from the beginning, 2) which him (and the rest of the apostles) have heard, 3) they saw it with
their own eyes, 4) they looked at, 5) and their hands touched it. That (which John now unveils as the
Word of Life) they continued to proclaim. I put it as a continuous tense because that is how it is
appearing in the original language, Greek. That which was from the beginning is now called Life. Before
answering that question, John continues to say that he (and possibly other apostles) saw that life and
continue to testify their seeing it. And they continue to proclaim to them the eternal life. That which was
