Sexual Morality Before Marriage.
Premarital sex is increasing in our culture today. As the value of modern culture continue to change, so
is the behavior of those living it. Our culture’s attitude toward sex has changed. There are at least six
factors that have influenced a striking shift in our culture.
Secularism: This is the view that teaches that God must be removed from all areas of human thought
and activity.
Privatization: This is a view that one’s sexual preferences, are one’s own business. Neither the state nor
the Church should interfere.
Scientific Frankness: Teaches that sex impulse is fundamental to our nature as human beings, that
sexuality is open to enormous repression and that examining our unconscious we can neutralize our
obsession.
Media exposure: With the rise of modern technology the forms of public communication have
multiplied. They reach us in our homes, cars, and in the workplace. Part of the media exposure includes
the explosion of Pornography, which glorifies all forms of sexual expression.
Existential Schizophrenia: Reality and personal meaning has been divorced. The real is what is
scientifically quantifiable and verifiable. Emotions such as love, and purpose are not quantifiable.
Therapeutic Values: Values that govern the counselor in his or her work are becoming the values of

society as a whole.
These six views have greatly increased the level sexual morality in our culture. The Clear teaching of the
Bible is called abstinence view. The Scriptures justifies the abstinence view. It is God’s desire that there
should be no sexual morality.
Polygamy and the Bible.
Polygamy is the practice of having more than one wife at one time. Many African Leaders and Christians
believes that Polygamy is not wrong. Many people claim that the Bible has no clear-cut statements
concerning or prohibiting polygamy. First Kings 11:3 says Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.
Other men God highly praised in the Bible had multiple wives (and/or concubines), particularly Abraham
