P. 36

But not as the sin, so also the gift, for if by the sin of one the many died, much more rather the grace of
God and the gift by grace by the one-man Jesus Christ unto the many abounded. And not as through one
sinning is the gift; for the judgment out of one unto condemnation, but the gift out of many sins unto
justification. For if by the one sin, the death reigned through the one, much more rather the abundance of
the grace and the gift of righteousness receiving in life reigns through the one Jesus Christ. Therefore, then
as through one sin unto all men unto condemnation, so also through one righteous act unto all men unto
righteousness of life; for just as through the disobedience of the one-man sinners were made the many,
thus also through the obedience of the one righteous were made the many. Now law came in so that the
sin might increase; but where the sin increased, the grace increased much more, so that just as the sin
reigned in the death, so also the grace would reign through righteousness unto life eternal through Jesus
              Christ our Lord.

The obedience of Jesus in dying for sin is sufficient to justify all men and provides eternal life to those who
              trust in Him.

              6.4 Chapter 5 – Christ’s Redeeming Love

                        Introduction to Romans 5-8

Now that he has set the context, Paul got to what he saw as the cornerstone of the foundation
that he was laying for the instructions that would eventually come in chapters 12-15. It is the
wonder of Christ’s ministry of redeeming creation that is the cornerstone of that foundation.
The explanation of and implications of that ministry is the subject of Romans 5-8. His explanation came in
6 parts. It began with a survey of the lay of the land. Romans 5:1-12 is a big picture overview of the whole
subject that serves as the introduction to this part of the letter. In the remainder of chapter 5 there was a
