P. 54
For I consider that not worthy are the sufferings of the now season to the about to be revealed glory unto
us. For the eager expectation of creation waits expectantly the unveiling of the sons of God. For to futility
the creation is subjected, not of its own will but because of the one who subjected upon hope, that also the
same creation would be set free from the slavery to corruption unto the freedom of the glory of the
children if God. For we know that every created thing groans together and suffers together until now; but
not only, but also the first portion themselves of the Spirit having, we and they themselves we groan
awaiting expectantly adoption, the redemption of our body. For by hope we have been saved; but hope
that is seen is not hope; for what he sees does one hope for? But if what we do not see we hope for,
through endurance we wait expectantly.
All creation hopes patiently for the day when the present corruption of the created order will be done
away with so that the glory of God’s redemption shall shine.
But likewise also the Spirit helps with our weakness; for the thing which we pray for as necessary we do
not know, but the Spirit himself intercedes with unspeakable sighs; now the One who searches the hearts
know what is the mind of the Spirit, because with God he intercedes on behalf of saints. Now we know that
to the ones who love God all things work together unto good, to the ones who according to purpose are
being called. Because whom he foreknew, also he chose beforehand having the form of the likeness of His
Son, in order that he might be firstborn among may brothers; now whom He chose, these He also called;
and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
God works in us by His Spirit to help us live in the present days with confidence in God’s sovereign plan to
show His glory to all creation.
Therefore what shall we say to these things? If God is on behalf of us, who is against us? Who His own Son
did not spare, but on behalf of us all He gave him up, how not also with him will he not give to us all
things? Who will bring charges against the chosen by God? God the righteous? Who will by the one who
condemns? Christ Jesus, who died but rather raised, who also is at the right of God, who also is interceding
on behalf of us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Affliction or distress or persecution or famine
or nakedness or danger or sword? Just as it is written that “For the sake of you we are killed the whole
day, we are considered as slaughtered sheep.” But in all of these we are victorious through the One who
loves us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life nor angels nor rulers nor present things nor about
to come things nor powers nor height nor depth nor any other creature is able to separate us from the love
of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Nothing can separate those who trust in Christ from the love of God that has been shown to them in the
life and work of Christ.
