portion of faith. For just as in one body we have many parts, but the parts all do not have the same
function, thus being the many we are one body in Christ, but according to this of one another a part. Now
having gifts according to the grace which was given to us differently, whether prophecy according to the
analogy of faith, whether service in the serving, whether the one teaching in the instruction, whether the
one encouraging in the encouragement; the one giving with generosity, the one leading with diligence, the
one showing mercy with cheerfulness.
Be humble in your thoughts about yourself and remember that God uses different people in differing ways
to show His glory in the accomplishment of His purposes.
The love let it be unhypocritical. Be hating the evil, hold tight to the good, the brotherly love unto one
another be devoted, the honor to one another outdo, in zeal not lazy, in the spirit by boiling, to the Lord
serving in the hope rejoicing, in affliction enduring, in the prayer continuing, to the needs of the saints
contributing, hospitality pursuing. Bless the ones who persecute you, bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with the rejoicing ones, weep with the weeping ones. Thinking the same way unto one another, not
thinking proud things but be engaged in humble things. Do not become wise to yourselves. No one evil for
evil giving back, have in mind to do good things before all men; if out of you able, with all men be at
peace; not yourself taking revenge, beloved, but give a place to wrath, for it is written, “To me is revenge, I
will repay,” say the Lord. “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give drink to him; for doing
this a charcoal fire you will heap upon his head.” Do not be overcome by the evil, but overcome by the
good the evil.
Overcome evil by faithful obedience to the commands of Christ which are the display of His goodness and
the way we show His goodness to the world.
