A. TAKING NOTES
1. Two goals: accuracy and efficiency
2. How do you take notes?
3. Use your library time efficiently
4. Let your research question guide you
5. Make your notes so clear that someone else could write the paper
6. Write on only one side of the paper
7. Keep on top of your research (Don’t let it get on top of you!)
8. You will not always use every piece of information you collect but you want to have adequate
information to choose from. If you don’t, you will be just scraping by and your paper will show it.
9. If you photocopy or print resources, make sure to highlight or mark useful information, document the
title and copyright pages, and be selective!
10. Use computer search programs and save files in folders which contain the information you need.
