Written with the Blood of a Poet: A Tale

               of Adulterous Love

               Relebogile Kgalane

Bright-red life inked out from a heart

               with an untold story

A tale if spoken would lead to many a song

               tainted with a melody sorry
               With incoherent scribbling

               it echoes a language

               purer than the morning snow

Yet hushed in parables and riddles

to steer away Strife's crushing blow

This tale of guilt is tainted by the stain

of the unreliability of Drunk Time

               If told to unbelievers,

an inquisition of hypocrisy would mar the sublime

               And yet it speaks,

defying gods and fate, fortune and hell,
and in our heart it dwells, And will forever echo

when in death our mortal bodies shall be

               but lifeless shells

               Of blood and love,

a poet shall his innermost being reveal
               Of life and reality,

my blood shall this tale in the metaphysical conceal
