               TIMEPIECE

               Tsoane M

They say “time waits for no man.”

Day in, day out I stare at the size of my shadow

I watch as it changes direction from North-East-South-East to West

I stand still and ask, where has the time gone?

The sun, the moon and stars all tell time

Gloomy skies give rise to the clouds

The show is stolen by darkness

I seek to find where it has all gone

Perhaps it flew because I was having fun

I sit and wonder if still “it gets better with time”

I gaze upon my timepiece, far appealing than an hourglass

Does it guide me to lay or to rise

               To preserve and to prevail

Will it tell apart fall from blossoms of spring?

Timepiece, whatever your brand, your time is no different

The sun will still give way to the moon

               The seasons will change and

               The years will go by

The irony – you don’t have all the time in the world, yet you have
               time!
