The map on the opposite page is a copy of the original sur-
veyor's map of Kerner's Crossroads made after the death of Joseph
Kerner. In 1834 the land was divided among his three children:
John Frederick, Salome and Philip.
The outline map on the second page shows the crossroads
and the names of the three most important early owners of the
land which is now Kernersville and the date of the town's incor-
poration.
