  Photographic Equipment
A standard zoom lens, something around 24-105mm - this will be the lens you’ll have on your camera 90% of the time. It’s a great walkabout lens, you can get back and get in with this focal length.
A wide lens for any landscapes is also necessary, around 16-35mm.
A long telephoto - 70-200mm will be very useful on the boat while you cruise Ha Long Bay.
We’ll be doing a lot of portrait work, if you have a specific portrait lens, bring that - 85mm is a brilliant length.
Of course don’t forget lots of SD cards, back-up external drive and at least 3 batteries. Let me know if you have any questions regarding gear. Most days will have time to come back to our room to change gear depending on what we’re shooting in that session. You’ll also need filters and if you’re unsure on which ones to buy, have a read of this recent post.
A tripod isn’t really necessary, although if you have a lightweight travel one which easily attaches to your backpack, it maybe worth packing, although Susan does have one which is available to share.
There aren’t many opportunities for long exposures, rather most of what we’ll be capturing is from our street walks, and por- traiture in fairly close surrounds. The images throughout this brochure are what you can expect to be able to capture.
And finally, when travelling, never put your camera gear into your checked in luggage plus always detach your lens from your camera. Plus remember that your batteries & power banks are to go in your carry-on bag - this is a quick read on aviation rules.
