Accommodation
Accommodation is share twin - an example of what you can expect is below. With the exception of the being on the cruise and overnight sleeper train, there is an option for your own room at an additional cost.
Useful Information
MONEY - Use your ATM (debit) card, so long as it has a chip you can use it in 90% of ATMs in Viet- nam. Here you can get Vietnamese Dong at the best rate. There is no need to bring USD cash un- less you want to (some travellers like to have a few hundred in USD for emergencies hidden in their baggage somewhere). You can also use your credit card for purchases at most stores and hotels, just not at street stalls.
PERSONAL SPENDING - Of course, each of us is different, but it will be possible to budget for around NZ$40 a day to cover your lunch and dinner, including bottled water and the odd soda, juice or beer.
INTERNET - WIFI is available in hotels, but speeds vary greatly. If you require an e-sim/travel sim or roaming, please ensure this is purchased and set it up before departing New Zealand.
FOOD - A part of any trip abroad is to experience the culinary delights of a country, and Vietnam has one of the easiest to adjust to cuisines. Of course, you can get brand chain fast foods like KFC and McDonalds, but Vietnamese food should not be missed. Items like grilled pork, rice and pickled veg are superb, spring rolls, both fresh and deep fried are common, plus Pho noodle soup, is the nation- al dish and is excellent. There are usual fried rice dishes too and loads of delicious tropical fruit.
