            Benefits of Reading

As an intellectual thing, a book is prototypically a makeup of such great length that it takes a
considerable investment of time to write and a still considerable, though not so comprehensive,
investment of time to read. In the restricted sense, a book is a self explanatory section or portion of
a longer composition, a usage that reflects the fact that, in antiquity, long works had to be written
on several scrolls, and each scroll had to be identified by the book it included. Therefore, for
instance, each part of Aristotles Physics is referred to as a book. From the unrestricted sense, a
book is the compositional whole of that these segments, whether called books or chapters or
            components, are parts.

The academic material in a physical book does not need to be a makeup, nor be called a novel.
Novels can consist just of drawings, engravings, or photographs, or such matters as crossword
puzzles or cut-out dolls. At a physical book, the pages can be left blank or can feature an abstract
set of lines as service for ongoing entrances, e.g., an account book, an appointment book, an
autograph book, a laptop, a journal, or a sketchbook. Some bodily books are made out of pages
thick and sturdy enough to support other physical objects, like a record or photograph album.
Books may be distributed in electronic form as e-books and other formats.

Although in normal academic parlance that a monograph is understood to be a specialist academic
work, rather than a reference work on a single scholarly subject, in library and information science
monograph denotes more broadly every non-serial book complete in one volume (book) or a finite
number of volumes (a novel like Prousts seven-volume In Search of Lost Time), compared to
sequential books like a magazine, journal, or newspaper. A passionate reader or reader of books is
a bibliophile or colloquially,"bookworm". Books are also sold everywhere. Google has estimated
that as of 2010, approximately 130,000,000 different titles had been released. In some wealthier
countries, the sale of published books has diminished due to the increased usage of e-books.

In the 2000s, as a result of rise in availability of affordable handheld computing devices, the
chance to share texts via digital means became an appealing option for media publishers. The
term e-book is a contraction of"digital book"; it refers to a book-length publication in electronic form.
An e-book is generally made available through the internet, but also on CD-ROM along with other
forms. E-Books may be read either via a computing device with an LED screen such as a
conventional computer, a smartphone or a tablet computer; or by way of a portable e-ink screen
device known as an e-book reader, such as the Sony Reader, Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo
eReader, or the Amazon Kindle. E-book readers attempt to mimic the experience of reading a print
book by using this technology, because the displays onto e-book readers are not as reflective.
