Three New Tables), azimuthal values near that ecliptic longitude (and
near the position 180º from it) vary widely.
The following procedure enables use of the table south of the
equator. South azimuth can be obtained by taking the complements of
sidereal time and ecliptic longitude for the same latitudinal value in the
table. The complement of a value of sidereal time is the difference
between it and 24:00. The complement of an ecliptic position is found
by converting it into degrees of a whole circle and subtracting it from
360º. Note that south azimuth is local latitude measured clockwise
from axial south.
