Jack’s house
Of all trades Jack 1
Chose consumer;
He thought shortage
Merely rumor.
The lumber, Jack, 2
From ancient trees:
You thought it yours
To claim and seize.
A dull boy Jack 3
Clear-cut his land;
He worked and played
And thought it grand.
A rabbit Jack 4
Lacked self-control;
To breed he thought
Should be his goal.
Be nimble, Jack! 5
The candlestick
You thought you’d leap?
You're not that quick!
In the box Jack 6
Thought he was king;
Then saw too late
His broken spring.
Every man, Jack, 7
Can’t be like you—
Who thought his wealth
Would just accrue.
You’re an ass, Jack: 8
And now you’re caught;
There’s always more—
Or so you thought.
