        139 Ballerina
            Wood
            12.75” x 3.25”

This dancer, probably copied from a painting or photograph,
stands on a two-inch-tall octagonal base. Her tutu, not clearly
demarcated on her body, is knee-length and hemmed at the
bottom with chisel gouges indicating lace frills. She holds a
classical position, one hand on her hip, the other (now broken)
above her head; one ballet shoe-clad foot is up on point, the
other flat. Her hair is in a bun and she is smiling.
