Fasting the Plastiphage
Kaga could dimly see the Plastiphage…
Kaga stayed back as Stimgage greeted the others and began an
intense discussion. His eyes became accustomed to the gloom, and he
tried to make out more of the strange creature before him. It had
several limbs, all lying slack and swollen on the ground. Three eye-
sockets surmounting a domed head were covered by a glassy
membrane. Kaga looked for signs of intelligence, to no avail. The
animal was clearly toxic, however, and not far from death.
Stimgage returned to Captain Kaga. “Is there any hope for the
Plastiphage?” he asked, anxiously.
“Yes,” replied Kaga slowly. “But it depends on your ability to sell
the High Priest on an idea he won’t like. That creature has got to go
on a fast.”
“A what?” said Stimgage. “That last word did not get properly
translated.”
“It’s very simple,” said Kaga. “The Plastiphage, owing to its illness,
is unable to break down the plastic it eats into oil. But it keeps on
eating, poisoning itself. If you stop giving it plastikons, it will be able
