Billy  Bob  spat  out  some  half-masticated  green  stalks.  “Where’s
        Eddie? Maybe a coyote got him. Let’s get out of here.”
          The cry came again, this time ending in a high-pitched quavering
        squeal.
           “Hold  on,  there,”  said  Levi.  “That  might  be  pleasure
        instead of pain. And it does sound a bit like Eddie Puss.”
          They  waited  tensely,  now  quite  aware  of  time.  No  other  sound
        reached their hypersensitized ears.
          Billy Bob growled, “Let’s have a look.”
          The two tomcats slunk cautiously into the further recesses of the
        property.
