In ancient Egypt, pretty much AlL of the houses were made of mud. OK, it wasn’t the gloopy kind. No, these houses were made from mud bricks that had been hardened in the sun.
Mummy likes your drawings . . . just not all over the side of her nice shiny house.
Sometimes extremely wealthy people lined the outside of their homes with white limestone, which was super-pricey but made the houses glitter in the sunshine.
Sounds swanky, but imagine your mum’s face if you leaned against the shiny white wall with dirty hands. She’d have you down at the Nile fetching water to clean it faster than you could say “Jumping jackals!”
Wealthy people had porters to carry their shopping. Nowadays we just have shopping trolleys, which doesn’t sound as exciting.

In the hot climate of Egypt, there was no way to refrigerate food, so people had to shop daily for fresh provisions. And no, there was no ice cream.
