Remember the whole “sleeping on the roof” thing?
Well, there were beds for some people — the ones who could afford it. But they weren’t exactly what you’d call cosy.
You know something´s wrong when you get splinters from your pillow.
They were made from wooden frames with
a base of reeds. What was that? Pillows? Pillows indeed! The Egyptians didn’t go in for all that super-soft nonsense. Nope, they had wooden head-rests for pillows. That’s right – lovely, comfortable wood.

you didn’t have to climb all those stairs to bed when you’re soooo tired?
Well, at least there aren’t as many steps as there are on the Great Pyramid at Giza. Khufu’s Great Pyramid is the biggest stone building in the world. It is 146 metres (479 ft) high and is made from nearly 2.5 million blocks of limestone!
Although it looks worn and crumbled today, the Great Pyramid at Giza was once faced with gleaming white limestone and may even have been capped with gold! Makes your house seem a bit dull, doesn’t it?
