trees in winter
In winter, days are very cold and short. It’s hard for a tree to survive in this weather, so many trees go to sleep as they wait for spring.
Winter is the most important time to help feed the birds
It will also be more difficult for animals to find food on trees, so people put bird feeders out instead.
Many trees can no longer make their own food because they’ve lost their leaves, so they send all the sap they have saved into their roots. Their bare branches make it easier for the tree to survive high winds and snow.
