Mary ran for a watering can – “You can do it! You can do it!” – and Ben hurried off to fetch a young rose tree from his greenhouse while Colin dug. A short while later, a pair of thin white hands put the rose in its hole and Ben firmed down the soil.
“Help me up,” said Colin. “I want to be standing when the sun sets.” Dickon helped, but courage gave Colin the strength. So, when the sun did
finally slip over the edge of the world, Colin Craven was standing on his two feet, laughing.
