Tom raced through the crowd after Digby. He soon found himself next to an enormous river. There were boats everywhere and people carrying baskets and crates.
Tom found paw prints leading to the river, but he couldn’t see Digby. Perhaps that naughty cat was napping somewhere?
The River Nile was very important for ancient Egyptians. They used it to travel around Egypt and to trade goods with other countries, particularly with the ancient Greeks.
Fishermen went out on small boats made of reeds, while larger ships carried soldiers and and were used by rich noblemen for relaxing day trips.
