 The furniture in grand houses was made from
expensive wood, as well as   and gold. The windows were high to keep the heat out, and the walls
were covered in plaster and painted with beautiful pictures.
Servants and   looked after the house and the family. They lived at the back of the house, and did all of the cooking, cleaning and gardening.
They would also have had stables and beautiful walled gardens, sometimes with freshwater pools where pet fish were kept. Servants would have had to change the water regularly to keep it fresh.
