At a feast, the host and hostess would sit on a raised platform, while the guests sat on stools. There were no knives and forks, so everyone ate with their fingers.
At these feasts, guests would eat meat dishes like ox,

vegetables, followed by sweet cakes and pastries. All the food was cooked on the roof to avoid fires.
