‘Conkers’ is the name of a traditional game that is played using the seeds from the horse chestnut tree.
Prepare Your Conkers
1 Choose two of the biggest, smoothest, roundest conkers you can find.
2 Ask an adult to make a hole through the centre of each one, either
with a nail or a screwdriver, or even a drill.
3 Take two long pieces of string or garden twine – about 20 cm long – and thread a piece through the hole in each conker. Make sure you tie a knot in the bottom so that the conkers don’t
just slide off!
4 Find a friend and challenge
them to a game . . .
When playing, hold the
conker low, away from your face, and never flick or throw a conker near someone else’s face.

How to Play
Stand opposite each other, holding the end
of the string so that the conkers are hanging down.
Take it in turns to hit your conker against your
opponent’s.
The conker that breaks the other one gains a point.
