You will need:
spray bottle raspberries wooden spoon sieve
empty yoghurt pots seed-starting soil
Radiant Raspberries
Raspberries are easy to grow. They look beautiful and taste delicious! Growing raspberries from seed takes a few months, but it’s worth the wait.
Ask a grown-up to help you prepare your yogurt pots by making small holes in the bottom for drainage. Then fill them with special seed-starting soil.
Take a handful of raspberries and mash them up with the back of a wooden spoon in a sieve. Pick the brown seeds out of the red pulp and set them aside. (Then you can eat the juicy pulp on its own or with yoghurt – yum!)
Plant the seeds about 2 cm apart and 1cm deep. Spray them with your spray bottle, but remember that they don’t like to get too wet.
After around 4-6 weeks, you will see your first baby raspberry plants! When your seedlings are around 2 cm tall and it’s at least 15°C outside, plant them in the ground or in a big pot. As they grow, tie them to a bamboo canes. After the plants have flowered, watch for the first little berries to appear!
