Gnome Homes
Every gnome or elf needs a little home to call their own! They will live anywhere, so you don’t need a garden to do this activity – even a few potted plants on a balcony will do. And if you don’t have all the nature bits in your own garden, you can ask neighbours or collect them in your local park.
Choose a quiet, shady spot – gnomes and elves are very shy!
Then build your walls.
You can lean lots of twigs up against a tree, using the tree trunk as one wall, or you can make a cone shape by leaning the tops of the twigs against each other in a cone shape.
If you have soft ground, you can tap the ends of the twigs down into the soil using a stone for a hammer (but mind your fingers!), sticking them all close together to make walls, and leaving
a gap for your door. Use pieces of flat bark or more twigs to make a roof. Perhaps you can even line your roof with moss or leaves.
If you don’t live somewhere with lots
of trees and twigs, you can also use small, flat stones, stacked up to make a wall.
You will need:
fallen leaves, stones, bark – anything you can find to build with!
flowers (be sure to ask before you pick any!)
seed fluff, from milkweed or dandelions
acorns
