Leaf Lullaby Mobile
Just because it’s bedtime, it doesn’t mean you have to say goodnight to nature! Bring the magic of the outdoors inside with your own beautiful mobile.
Cut two pieces of wool that are about 30 cm long.
Place your two twigs firmly together in an X shape and wrap the first piece of wool back and forth around the place where the twigs cross, over and over again until you have about 5 cm of loose wool left free at each end.
Lay a second 30 cm piece of wool across the place where the twigs cross.
Tie the ends of the first piece of wool with a double knot to secure the second piece of wool tightly to the twigs.
Fold the second piece of wool in half to make a loop for hanging your mobile, and tie those ends in another double knot.
Now cut five pieces of wool into different lengths, between 15-30 cm long. Tie one end of one piece of wool around where the twigs cross. Tie the other four pieces on to all four ends of the twigs.
Safety Tip:
Never hang anything with strings near the head of your bed in case it falls down and you get all tangled up. Make sure dangling strings are always 30 cm or less in length.
Tie or glue your nature treasures on to the ends of the strings.
Hang your mobile in a window – or over the foot of your bed – and enjoy. Sweet dreams!
You will need:
two sturdy, straight twigs, about the same length
nature bits like small pine cones, feathers, shells, sheep’s wool . . . or any other natural thing that catches your eye!
about 2-3 metres of wool (or sturdy string) scissors and glue
