Running back to the lodges, they find all their teachers (apart from Mr Barry) have gone night-swimming – right in the path of the monster! They shout to them to get out of the water and chaos ensues, until the monster decides to take to the land. It slimes on to the shore and hauls itself towards the children.
They are frozen in shock, especially when it starts to take off its head ... and Mrs Muir, the hotel owner, is revealed! She confesses that she and Tam have revived the old monster story to drum up trade and they didn’t mean any harm.All is forgiven and sandwiches are hand- ed round and Mr Barry comes back from where he’d been showering off the mud that he fell in and left all over Gary Petrie’s hot tub.Another successful school trip over, everyone returns to school.
