Hugo snuffled excitedly.
“Yes, it’d be lovely if they chose you,” agreed Zoe.
Then Hugo sighed and gave a sad little snort.
“Just because other animals are bigger than you, it doesn’t make them more exciting,” said Zoe.
“Small animals can be exciting too,” Meep chirped. He performed a little backflip to prove his point.
“Yes,they can,”agreed Zoe.“And anyway, even if my class doesn’t adopt you, lots of really nice people visit the zoo every day, so you’ll still have plenty of friends.”
Hugo sniffed, saying that he wasn’t so sure.
