from STANFORD COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS
I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what you love.
Steve Jobs
My secondary school motto was Age Quod Agis – “Do What You Do”, often translated at the time as “Do Your Thing”. At twelve, I thought it was rather silly, but since then I have come to believe it is infinitely wise. The secret of life is to find your thing, and then get on and do it. These remarks from Steve Jobs, the co- founder of Apple Inc., to students graduating from university reminded me of this. Those who find their thing are fortunate, because then they can concentrate on a way to do it. And if you love doing it you will be more likely to overcome hurdles, and have a better time in the attempt. Good luck with the search.
