FANCY THAT!
During religious festival days, a ceremony called volador took place in some parts of the Aztec Empire, in which young men dressed up as birds and climbed up a very high pole to which they were attached by ropes. They then hurled themselves off and swung round and round the pole before landing safely (hopefully). A quick tip if you´re thinking of taking this up as a hobby: DON´T!
They clearly hadn’t heard your violin practice . . .
Only wind and percussion instruments were played – including drums, shakers, bells, rattles, whistles, flutes, ocarinas and trumpets made from shells.
Some historical sources suggest that all older children went to a type of school called the ‘House of Song’ to learn music, dance and chanting. So if you’re truly awful at playing music, why not give a good old chant a go? Easy!
Any chance you could take up the triangle instead?
