Tom chased Digby down a busy, twisting street, until he spotted some children walking into a building carrying an orange cat. Digby!
He followed them into a busy school. The teacher was shouting, and the boys giggled as Digby raced away.
Wealthy children went to school from the age of seven. Only boys were allowed, and they took an enslaved person with them, known as a pedagogue, who sat through their lessons and helped with their homework after school. Girls had to stay at home, helping their mothers with the housework, learning how to weave
and attending music and dance lessons at the temple.
