Tom chased Digby all the way back across the Forbidden City and through a pair of big red gates.
A guard shouted, but Tom didn’t look back until he spotted Digby slipping inside a building on a quiet street. He crept inside to find a room filled with fabric and some very strange furniture.
Silk was the most expensive of Chinese goods. It was created by and was then taken to workshops where it was woven on a
loom, dyed different colours and embroidered. The silk was turned into beautiful clothes, handkerchiefs, wallets and belts.
