When the first British postmen were given red uniforms in the late 1700s, people thought that their outfits had been inspired by robins. When the price of post dropped, Christmas became the time of year where postmen were seen delivering
letters and parcels the most. Because of this, and because
of the way in which robins are easier to see in winter months, robins have become symbols of Christmas and often appear on Christmas cards in the UK today.
