HOW DO ASTRONAUTS GET
BACK TO EARTH
Once the mission is finished, the astronauts get into their spacesuits, crawl into the Soyuz capsule, and ride back to Earth.
The Soyuz capsule doesn’t have wings or wheels, so
it does not land back on the Earth like an aeroplane. Instead, when it gets close to the land, parachutes come out and little rocket engines fire to slow it down. The landing is bumpy, and the capsule can land on the ground or in the sea. The astronauts on board feel a bit like they’re inside a washing machine!
