Have fun at the DNWeekeND
You’re invited to Doncaster’s free festival of art and per- formance on September 9 and 10.
A colourful family-friendly street extravaganza for one weekend, with some of the best arts and performance both home-grown and from across the country, take over the town centre for two days of free fun for all ages.
DNweekeND Festival Square will be Sir Nigel Gres- ley Square where, alongside the free performances, you will find food stalls, family picnic area, craft stalls, cre- ative partner activities and drop-in creative workshops.
SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FREE FESTIVAL:
Project_Vee by Circus Geeks and PanGo c Juggling meets roulette wheel with danger, skill and unpredictable moments. A 25-minute juggling duet, based around a spinning see- saw structure, raising up to 3 metres high. Saturday 2pm,
5pm; Sunday 12.30pm, 3pm.
The Aperitif by Wet Picnic
is an eccentric take on a si- lent disco, combined with a communal experience and thought-provoking satire. A mix of surreal, physical and downright silly comedy! Guests are invited to attend the Gredus Aperitif and join the French waiters for a din- ner to remember. Saturday 1.30pm, 6pm; Sunday 2pm.
Roadworks by E a Ermini Dance Theatre
A quirky and humorous dance theatre piece incorporates acrobatics, B-Boying, con- temporary dance, BMX-ing, music, clowning and physical theatre. Sunday noon, 2pm, 3pm
Lance moi en l’air by Joli Vyann &; L’Eolienne Dance meets circus in this playfully acrobatic piece which translates in English
to ‘throw me in the air’.
Two performers meet and take you on an energetic phys- ical journey Saturday 2.30pm, 5.30pm; Sunday 1pm, 2.30pm.
Songs of Our Town
The Songs of Our Town album launches at DNweekeND!
Come and see live per- formances of the songs that make up the album from the talented local artists. Satur- day noon and 5.30pm
Doves of Doncaster
Doves of Doncaster marks the centenary of the end of World War One in 2018 by creating a trail of doves through the town. During the DNweek- eND, drop in and take part
in making one of the doves through a free arts and cra s workshop. Pop-in sessions throughout Saturday and Sunday
The Awakening
by Stopgap Dance Performed by four disabled and non-disabled dancers, an exhilarating dance piece involving four characters, trapped in a strange but mes- merising ritual.
