ROSA PARKS
Rosa Parks was an American activist
in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role
in the Montgomery bus boycott. She launched one of the most successful non- violent protests against discrimination in America when she refused to give up her seat on a bus. The United States Congress has called her “the first lady of civil rights”
and “the mother of the freedom movement”.
MOTHER TERESA
Mother Teresa became a global icon for selfless service to others. In 1950 she founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation that had more than 4,500 nuns and was active in 133 countries at its peak. She was awarded the Nobel Prize for peace.
FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE Florence Nightingale helped to change attitudes towards nurses, hospitals and women around the turn of the century. She came to prominence while serving as a manager and trainer
of nurses during the Crimean War, in which she organised care for wounded soldiers.
LADY DIANA
Princess Diana combined the appeal of a Royal princess
fought passionately to bring social revolution to Germany.
ELEANOR ROOSEVELT
Eleanor Roosevelt served as the First Lady of the United States from March 4, 1933, to April 12, 1945, during her husband President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s four terms in office, making her the longest- serving First Lady of the United States.

Amelia Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across
the Atlantic
Ocean. She

Dorothy Hodgkin
was a British chemist who was awarded
the Nobel prize for chemistry for her work on critical discoveries of the structure
of both penicillin
and later insulin.
These discoveries
led to significant improvements in health care.
GRETA THUNBERG
Greta Thunberg is a teenage Swedish environmental activist on climate
change whose
with her humanitarian charity work. Although her marriage to
Prince Charles was overshadowed by affairs on both sides; her popularity remained undimmed, with her natural sympathy
with the poor and mistreated. Among her notable work
was time spent with victims of HIV and her campaigning against land mines.
EMMELINE PANKHURST
British suffragette, Emily Pankhurst dedicated her life
to the promotion of women’s rights. In 1999
Time magazine named Pankhurst as one of the 100 Most Important People of the 20th Century. Her work is recognised as a crucial element in achieving women’s suffrage in
the United Kingdom. She died in 1928, three weeks before a law giving all women over 21 the right to vote.
ROSA LUXEMBURG
The Polish libertarian Marxist, philosopher, economist, anti-
war activist and revolutionary socialist became a naturalised German citizen at the age of 28. She was a friend of Lenin who
records,wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences, and
was instrumental
in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, an organisation for female pilots.
