Come and explore Elsecar and follow clues to find your collage treasure! Meet back in the learning room above the gift shop to create your collage of Elsecar
to take home.

History Explore: Fiery Furnaces, an Egyptian Folly and Seaside Fun
Fri 21 Feb | 10.30am Meet at the Visitor Centre
Join us for an extended four-mile walk around some of the fascinating places across our historic landscape!
Discover the site of an incredible ironworks, ancient woodlands, an Egyptian pyramid and the fascinating story of Elsecar-by-the-Sea.
The route includes stiles, steep slopes and uneven ground. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
History Explore: Elsecar Village History Walk

Meet at the Visitor Centre
Join us for a special extended walk around Elsecar.
Follow in the footsteps of Royal visitors, and discover the lives of villagers in centuries gone by, on this two-mile stroll.
The route includes uneven ground. Please wear appropriate footwear.

Discover all the latest findings and discoveries of the Elsecar Heritage Action Zone. Hear about new research into the village’s buildings and historic landscape. See fascinating archival documents, photos and maps up close. Get a glimpse of the village’s amazing archaeology.

Elsecar Heritage Action Zone
is an exciting 3 year partnership between Barnsley Museums and Historic England, working with the local community and other local partners to research, uncover and celebrate the amazing history and archaeology of Elsecar, one of the first industrial model villages.

Winter Canal Tidy

Join volunteers from the village and the Tidy Team for our Winter tidy and litter pick along the Elsecar Branch of the Dearne and Dove Canal.
All equipment provided, please wear sturdy shoes and clothes.
