Feels Like Home
(ESOL Group)
Term Time | Wed 4.30–6.30pm
Feels Like Home is a community group for people who don’t speak English as a first language. Join the group to learn English, to learn about Barnsley culture, to do cool arts and heritage stuff and to go on trips... but most importantly to make new friends. Families are welcome – children’s activities provided! Please spread the word and join our friendly group. Local interest groups please also get in touch to share your passions and knowledge of Barnsley with us!

Relaxed WW2 Crafts

Take part in a range of relaxing and fun activities inspired by our World War 2 exhibition. Join us in making medals and decorating planes. Session numbers are limited to avoid a busy, loud room so please book a place before attending. Suitable for children aged 5–11, must be accompanied by an adult.

Coming Soon University of Sheffield Discover Course
Wed 22 & 29 Apr, Wed 6, 13 & 20 May ‘Discover’ is an award winning course run by the University of Sheffield, designed to support adults considering applying to higher education. Delivered in partnership with Barnsley Museums, ‘Discover’ will reintroduce participants to formal learning through practical activities inspired by curating and interpreting local history.

Hands on History –
Women Against Pit Closures Tue 11 Feb
This session highlights the fantastic newly catalogued collections surrounding women’s involvement
in the Miners’ Strike of 1984/85, and will be an opportunity to delve into local Barnsley women’s history of activism. Explore our archive of photographs, posters, documents and letters – as well as oral histories from some of the most notable female campaigners. 11am–6pm | Free drop-in event

The Teeny Time Travellers Club Term Time Fridays
Visit our new weekly session for under-fives and their families
Jump into our time machine to explore the museum as you’ve never seen it before at this weekly club. Calling all intrepid babies and tots who love treasure hunts, stories, singing, playing and making.
Each week we will discover a different theme in the museum through interactive activities and play.
