Academically, students have the opportunity to ourish in their chosen disciplines, while following a curriculum that embraces breadth and diversity.
Sixth Form pupils have the privilege of enjoying their own dedicated facilities. These include a light and airy Sixth Form Centre with a café, a spacious seating area, ICT suites and ready access to the Learning Resources Centre which offers provision for private study.
The daily contact and support provided by a Personal Tutor, complemented by small study groups, provide pupils with the opportunity to develop their full potential during Years 12 and 13.
There is much collaboration with students from Wake eld Girls’ High School (WGHS) during the Sixth Form years. Academically, students have the possibility to choose from a range of joint subjects either taught at QEGS or WGHS, or a mixture of both, and joint social events ourish.
Many extra-curricular activities complement academic study in the Sixth Form, including QED, in which Sixth Form students have the opportunity to help lead activities for younger pupils.
Students look to complete their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award as well as assisting younger pupils’ expeditions. There is also the option to take part in major overseas sports tours and specialist clubs like the Senate Debating Society.
All students have the potential to become school prefects, with a senior prefect body assisting teaching staff in the daily management of school life and providing leadership to the school community.
Many Sixth Formers also help to run lower school clubs and provide much guidance to the younger year groups, particularly through the positions of Form Prefects and the Year 7 Induction Programme.
