Boy-Friendly Learning
Boys need to feel that they are known individually; that their teachers care about them and know what implicitly makes them ‘tick’.
An effective connection and relationship between boys and their teachers — ‘relational learning’ — forms the foundation of our academic success.
Lessons are characterised by multiple qualities — fast-paced, varied, fun and challenging, with elements of competition and kinetic activity.
Through this boy-friendly pedagogy, boys are hooked and engaged from the beginning of the lesson, which is crucial for achieving their learning objectives.
Teachers honour boys and their potentials by holding them to high but attainable expectations; they are interested in them and their ultimate success, nurturing the feedback dynamic through engagement.
Our talented and committed team of teachers provides multiple role models for boys in all aspects of school life, instilling con dence through nurturing relationships of trust and mutual respect.
Every Wednesday, teaching staff share their interests and hobbies with boys through the leading of QED (QEGS Enrichment and Development) activities.
This sharing of common ground — whether mountain biking, photography or public speaking — further strengthens the alliance between staff and boys, and plays a prominent role in engaging boys in and out of the classroom.
